The big experiment
Gretchen and I thought 'what would happen if the boys shared a room?' Bedtimes can sometimes get pretty long taking upwards of an hour to get both of them down. We also thought it might strengthen their sibling bond. Three days in we've had ups and downs but I think it's starting to pay off. This is video from their first night in the same room. Charlie is being a good brother and putting books in Nate's crib to read (maybe a few too many).

Toy Story 3
We took Charlie to his first movie this morning. We'd been looking forward to it for weeks. He loved getting to eat a whole bag of M&Ms, and was so quiet during the movie. He cuddled on my lap for most of it, and when it was over he said, "I wanna watch it again!" It was a great movie, and a perfect first movie experience.

road trip to KC
A couple weekends ago, the boys and I made an impromptu trip to Kansas City to visit Sue and the kids. It was my first road trip alone with the boys. We all held up pretty well on the drive, despite Charlie throwing up somewhere near the Kansas/Oklahoma border on the drive home. The boys loved hanging out with their cousins, and I was thankful for some quality time with my sister.

Boys Zoo Outing
I took Charlie and Nate to the Zoo on Thursday for a boys only outing. We had an absolute blast. Nate is getting more and more mobile and spent a good bit of time out of the wagon running around. Hopefully we can do more things like this to give their momma an extra day to recharge.

Up close with a saltwater croc.

At the MOLA exhibit (the snake house) with a Komodo dragon.

Are Zebras black with white stripes or white with black stripes?

Nate on the Yellow Rose train express.

Charlie enjoying a little shade in the wagon coach.

Both boys hit the wall before we made it halfway home.

Charlie's Big Prize
CDub and I went to Lonestar Park today for a little fun. In the first race of the day, we cheered on the #2 horse - That's Our Destiny. It won going away which was nice since we had placed a $2 bet on him. We watched him in the winner's circle and as is the tradition at LSP the winning jockey signs his goggles and gives them to a spectator in the crowd. Charlie was the lucky one and has a nice souvenir. Here is a picture of him with his new goggles and the $5 we won on the bet.
