End of Summer Fun

Best Buds

My parents came to visit and we went to the Bush Presidential Library

A visit from Grandpa & Grandma wouldn't be complete without a trip to the popcorn store

Dave and I went to the TCU/LSU football game at Cowboys Stadium. It's pretty rare for him to have a Saturday off during football season, so it was a treat for us to get to go cheer our Frogs together.

Can I get you a pillow?

I often find myself feeling sorry for the dogs because I just don't have as much time for them since Charlie came along. My affection for them has not wavered, but they definitely get less attention. But then I stop feeling sorry for them when I remember that they still have bed privileges, meaning they get to curl up with Dave and I at the end of the day, and they often end up hogging the bed. Needless to say I was not all that sympathetic when I found them like this the other night. They spread out all the pillows on our bed and curled up. Rough life.

Play Date

Alison and Shannon came over this week for a play date, and the kids had a lot of fun together – especially when they discovered the dog crates. They played with those longer than any other toys.

Bella wasn't sure what to make of it all, so she spent most of the time behind the chair in the play room. She usually camps out all day on our bed, but lately she's spent a lot of time hiding behind that chair, even when Charlie is no where around.

Best Buddies?

Charlie has taken quite an interest in Wesley, and, surprisingly, Wesley is relatively tolerant of it. Charlie likes to tackle Wesley when he's laying down and will chase him around trying to give him bear hugs. While Wesley puts up with it, you can tell he doesn't exactly like it, so we're trying to teach Charlie the meaning of "gentle" and "soft touches," and teach Wesley the meaning of "run away." But we are so thankful our dogs are good with Charlie. If Bella sees Charlie coming, she just runs away.

I love this picture of Wesley because it looks like he's smiling. It makes me so happy that our dogs have a backyard big enough for them to run and play. We spend most evenings out there attempting to play fetch, but mainly chasing them around and watching them (mainly Wesley) run, run, run. At our old house, Dave was very good about walking them twice a day, and they would ask for that second walk if we were slow to get them out. But now they have not asked for a second walk once since we've been here. I love that they have more room both in and out of the house to run around.

Last night we walked down to a park a couple blocks away after dinner for a little outdoor time (despite the heat). We're enjoying getting to know our new neighborhood. I think Charlie looked so cute in this outfit. It's a little big, so I think he looked like a teenage, preppy boy with his oversized clothes and hat off to the side. :)

Already Getting into Mischief

Charlie's getting the hang of this crawling thing. The other day he started working his way over to the dogs' bowl. Wesley was not a fan of that. In this picture Wesley is trying to pull the bowl away from Charlie. I'm just wondering how many times I'm going to have redirect Charlie before he understands the dog bowl is off limits. He also loves electrical cords, so I can't turn my back on him!

He also got his second tooth up top yesterday, so that puts us at 6! And yes, he has bitten me twice during feedings, and while they were obviously unintentional, that's another lesson we're working on.
