April

We enjoyed a visit from my parents, and I took my mom out to high tea at the Ritz to celebrate her birthday.

The boys had their last day of Classical Conversations for the year. Unfortunately Nate wasn't feeling well, so he missed it. This is Charlie with his amazing tutor, Mrs. Dann.

One of my favorite things we've been working on this year is a nature study of our backyard. Here the boys are adding a drawing to their journal of a silkworm we found dangling from one of our trees.

We celebrated Dave's "milestone" birthday at a Rangers game. Dave, Charlie and I shared the Boomstick, a 24-inch hot dog covered in chili, cheese and onions. (Nate preferred his hot dog plain, and of normal length.)

Family Getaway

November through April is a crazy busy time for Dave working and traveling with the Mavs, so when he had a couple days off in a row in March we went away to a little house in NW Fort Worth and had some precious family time. The house was built 80-something years ago on a dairy farm. The area around it is being built up, but it still sits on 2-acres that sometimes welcomes dear and other wildlife. We love just hanging out there, reading, watching movings, playing games and playing outside. We also visited the Fort Worth Nature Preserve where we got to see buffalo and prairie dogs and enjoyed some nice hikes. It was a really special time of peace and quiet for us during a very busy season.

March

We went to Tulsa for one of Dave's cousin's wedding.

We were all dressed up for once so we figured we needed to document it, but the boys were obviously not that enthusiastic about it...

...so we just crop them out and we have a nice pictures of Dave and I (glow necklaces and all!). :)

We were all so thrilled to have my 12-year old niece visit during her spring break!

February

Dave and the boys scraped up every flake of snow that we got and made our first-ever snowman!

We had a great field trip to the Dallas Museum of Biblical Arts with our Classical Conversations group. They had a great presentation and the kids all loved seeing familiar historical figures in this large painting.

January

We celebrated Nate's birthday with a party at Chuck E. Cheese's. He had such a good time with his friends, but he got a little unsure about things when Chuck E. came out and wanted all the birthday kids to come to the front. Nate took off his crown to try to hide the fact that it was his birthday.

Bowling!!

C lost 4 of his top teeth right around the same time, so he had a nice, big gap in his mouth for a while.

We spent a ton of time playing LIFE this winter, and here the boys were even trying to play it themselves during rest time.
