So many people ask me "How do you do it?" regarding Dave's hectic work and travel schedule during the winter season, and I always say it's worth the payoff of having him home almost all summer. And now we've finally reached that wonderful time of year. He's only been home three full days so far, but it's already been so great. It's just so wonderful that he's around all the time now, and we get to do little things like go to the grocery store together, or order pizza and watch movies. I'm so thankful that I get to be at home with him all day, too, instead of spending the day stuck in an office while he's at home lounging with the dogs. We obviously have lots of baby projects that will take up our time this summer, but mainly we're looking forward to long walks with the dogs, middle-of-the-week movie matinees, grilling out every available opportunity, afternoon naps, and catching up with friends. It's just so great to get to spend so much time with my best friend. Yes, November through April can be pretty tough, but May through August we're the luckiest people in the world.
Dave does go to Lincoln, Neb., this weekend to work Big 12 Track & Field, but that's his last scheduled road trip. And after that he only has about a dozen days of work booked from now until August (mostly Texas Rangers baseball). Things always pop up here and there, but that gives you an idea of how much time he has off. Talk about a great paternity leave!
