Spring has sprung

It's a gorgeous day here today, and Dave had a few hours between his flight home from Houston this morning and his game tonight, so we went out to lunch at Joe's, our favorite pizza place, and then went for a walk on the greenbelt near our house. Everything is so green, and we even spotted our first bluebonnets. I always love seeing the turtles that hang out by one of the ponds we walk by. Today there were a ton of them sunning themselves or sticking their heads out of the water. There are usually a lot of ducks, too, but they weren't out today.

But, of course, spring in Texas means storms, and we had a doozie last night. I woke to the tornado warning sirens going off at 3:45 a.m. I was pretty freaked out since Dave was gone, but I grabbed Charlie and the dogs and headed to the bathroom. It was a very intense storm, but I don't believe there were any tornadoes near us. But with the 70-80 mph winds, it might as well have been. There doesn't appear to be much damage in our neighborhood other than a few branches and shingles in the street and a few fences knocked down on the exterior lots.

here are some turtles sunning themselves, but click on the photo to see it larger and you can see a bunch of turtles in the water, too.
