Alaska Trip

Here are a few photos from my trip to Denali State Park and Kenai Peninsula in Alaska.

My friend Bill caught a 257 lb. halibut. He entered a contest to see who could catch the biggest halibut in June. First prize is $10,000 and so far no one has beaten him.

I was doing a video shoot with LaDainian Tomlinson and got him to take a picture with Gretchen and the boys. Charlie wasn't quite sure what to think about it but he will appreciate it when he's older.

I think we may have gotten more on his face and bib than in his mouth.

Here Daddy, let me help you get that spoon in my mouth.

Zoo with Grandma and Grandpa

After our weekend in Iowa, we drove back to Texas with my parents and enjoyed having them here for a week. Somehow, I managed not to take many pictures again, but thankfully my dad is still enjoying his new camera, so I can poach most of his pictures. It was a great week with them. We had a couple nice dinners out on our patio, and they helped me with a lot of gardening (meaning: weeding) that I needed to get done. We ventured out to the zoo one day, but I was so tempted to turn around when we realized all the school buses were going there to. It seemed like every school in the Metroplex had a field trip there that day, yet once we got inside it didn't seem too crowded. I think going to the zoo is one of Charlie's (and my) favorite things to do.

Charlie was thrilled, but a little shy about getting to pet this horse, Ollie. I think he's going to be quite a storyteller, but right now he tells them one word at a time. So in the days following he kept telling us the story of how he met Ollie:

"Doo doo!" (I went to the zoo.)
"Oee!" (I got to pet a horse named Ollie.)
"Kish!" (He gave me a kiss)
"Hat!" (He knocked my hat off)
"Choo chooo!" (Then I rode the train!)

This maybe 1/4 of all the buses that were there.

Nate got into the zoo spirit, too.

Trip to Iowa

I have finally imported my pictures from cameras to computer; now we'll see how long it takes me to get caught up on blogging.

Nate and I went up to Iowa a couple weekends ago for my cousin Angie's wedding. The wedding was beautiful, and it was so great to see all the Hurleys. Nate did great on his first flight, and he slept almost the entire 13-hour drive home with my parents.

Adrienne loved being Mother Hen to Nate.

I have a million more pictures to blog (Angie's wedding, Mom and Dad's visit, etc.), which I'm sure I'll import from my cameras eventually, but in the meantime, here's a picture Dad took of Charlie at the zoo last week. I think it's so precious.

Game 3

We took the boys to the Mavs playoff game on Saturday. We weren't sure how they would do, and figured we'd only last until halftime, but we made it the entire game. They both did really well. Charlie was already a big fan of Dirk, and he liked seeing all the animations on the jumbotron. Dave tried teaching him to cheer "Let's go Mavs," so the whole drive home Charlie was chanting "Mav, Mav, Mav." Nate did great, too, and even slept during some of the 4th quarter. Unfortunately, we lost on a controversial, last-second three pointer, but it ended up being a great afternoon anyway.
