Two months

two months old in Perry, Iowa

Charlie was two months old on Tuesday, and he has really started coming alive. As Dave asked him today, "Who turned you on?" We're getting more and more smiles, which just make my day. (I promise to try to catch it on camera soon.) He gives lots of eye contact, and you can tell he recognizes Dave or I when we enter his view. He's started talking a lot more and will sit and have a "conversation" with us. He continues to sleep well at night, a minimum of 7 hours. And twice in the last week he's gone 10 hours straight, so I'm hoping that's a sign of things to come. He is such a sweet boy, seems to really only fuss when he has a legitimate reason, and I'm starting to learn his signals ("I'm hungry"; "change my diaper"; "I'm bored"). But of course that could all change tomorrow! He loves to be on the go and seems to get kind of antsy if we don't get out at least once a day. He eats on a regular schedule, but we're still working on a routine for the in between times. While he sleeps great at night, he doesn't like to be put down for a nap. Instead he prefers to drift off to sleep in the swing, bouncy seat, or even better yet someone's arms. But the second you try to transfer him to the crib or pack-n-play he cries foul. But I will gladly accept that as long as he continues to sleep well in his crib at night. We go in for his two-month checkup on Tuesday, so we're taking bets as to how big he is now!
