I spared the blogosphere our struggles all last year with Charlie's constipation. We'll just say it was a long journey that made potty training a big struggle in our house. We're thankful that is long behind us, and he was fully potty trained last winter. Unfortunately, this summer we noticed he was having a lot of tinkle accidents, which was very uncharacteristic. After consulting with a pediatric urologist, he had a procedure done earlier this month to "clear the way." It was an outpatient surgery, but he had to come home with a catheter for three days. That was a little challenging, but he was such a trooper.

So Dave and I have had the distinct honor of both giving Charlie an enema and emptying his catheter bag. The joys of parenting! However, unfortunately we have not seen a change in Charlie's symptoms after the procedure. We think at this point that the procedure did what it needed to do, so the accidents now are probably a mental issue. We follow up with his dr. next week. We're hoping this doesn't mean we have to essentially retrain him...I guess the 4th time is a charm?
