2nd Annual Guys Week

Last year when Gretchen went on a trip to Ireland, I got to spend some quality time with Charlie and Nate. It was a memorable 10 days with a lot of male bonding. So I decided to continue the tradition this summer and have another week of father-son time. I'm hoping to use this time with them to not only have a lot of fun but to show them what it means to be a guy and instill some leadership qualities in them. By the end of it we were all pretty tired. Here are a few pictures from the week.

We kicked off the week with a breakfast of donuts and chocolate milk. Breakfast of champions and guys everywhere.

We made our own "Guys Week" t-shirts with patches that we all picked out.

Bass Pro Shop and their giant Great White shark.

Hard 8 BBQ with Gray Gray to celebrate his birthday.

Charlie got to try out the new ride at Legoland. While Nate met the height requirement he has to wait until he's four to join his brother on the track.

We topped the first day off with a steak dinner at Texas Roadhouse and ice cream at Baskin Robbins. Notice Nate striking his 'What me worry' pose for the camera. Always the character.

We visited our old hangout, the Fort Worth Zoo.

We did a camp-out in the backyard which was great. Charlie even last the entire night. Hopefully, we will get to do some real backpacking and camping excursions in future Guys Weeks.

The week wouldn't be complete without a tattoo of our favorite super heroes, the Avengers.

The boys got a personal tour of our local fire station. Here they are in the fire truck with firefighter Byrne.

The boys made it to the local arcade with their best friend Cody.

We spent an evening at the horse track. Granny was able to accompany us and while we didn't pick any winners, we still had a fun time.

The three of us made it to the movie theater to see Madagascar 3. All of us enjoyed the "Afro Circus."

A new addition to Guys Week is the root beer float. At first, Nate wasn't impressed by the root beer - it was "spicy" - but he quickly warmed up to the special treat.

Our last excursion was the Rangers Ballpark on Friday night to take in a game. Momma even joined us. We lasted 5 innings which was impressive since all of us were pretty whipped by all the activities of the week.
