Welcome to Summer

Well, the heat and humidity have set in and with it the summer hair cut. Both boys got theirs yesterday. I promised Gretchen that I wouldn't give them mohawks (that would have been pretty cool at least for a couple of days) so we splurged and had a professional do it. Haircuts not mohawks that is. We also had some fun playing out in the backyard. Days like that are why I'm thankful to have a big backyard. The boys used their water cannons to shoot at each other and then things got ugly when they turned the guns on me. Luckily, there was an extra water cannon and I was able to defend myself. After a dinner of Pedro Special (a favorite from my childhood), we made our way down to the AAC for some arena football. Thanks to some friends we had free parking and tickets and we got the chance to be on the field for player introductions.

Today was spent at my parent's house as we enjoyed our traditional Memorial Weekend viewing of the Indy 500. We gorged ourselves on fried chicken and mashed potatoes (okay, neither boy touched their food and had better things to do) and watched what ended up being one of the most exciting finishes in recent memory (rookie JR Hildebrand was going to win until he crashed his car in the final turn - heartbreaking and awesome).
